about me

the web is just a different kind of canvas

I'm non-binary and use they/them pronouns.

I'm a Seattle transplant from San Diego, can you believe I moved here for the weather? I started doing design after I graduated from UCSD with a degree in Psychology and minor in Fine Art. I'm constantly learning and improving my skills in design, development, and UX.

I enjoy sewing, anatomy illustration textbooks, RPGs and D&D, taking my puppy to new dog parks, and brushing up on my EMT-B certification.

Make it Short

I love making a design and seeing it live. Web, mobile app, and product UI are what I do best, along with some front-end dev to get it online. I also enjoy branding and visual identity, logo design, user experience, information architecture, human-computer interaction, and well... anything I can get my hands on.

I've worked in frameworks like Vue.js and Ruby on Rails, preprocessors like Haml, Sass, and Less, and have built my own projects using Bootstrap 4, Grid Systems, and WordPress. I also provide creative direction for a variety of projects including corporate identity, lead capture landing pages, investor and pitch slide decks, and email and ad marketing campaigns.

For me, design is about making terrible first drafts — and then iterating on them until they work. I don't know where I'd be without Photoshop layers, version control, and cmd+z. It's the difference between pixel-pushing until something feels right and having the experience and knowledge to know why.

Beware of geeks bearing gifs

I'm Cam, nice to meet you!

I started learning how to build websites all the way back in the days of MySpace so I could impress my friends with my page. Second sentence of my portfolio website and you already know just what kind of geek I am.

Congrats, I played myself

I studied Psychology and Oil Painting at University of California San Diego, two fields which shaped me into the type of designer I am today.

I actually almost went to a private art school to study graphic design, but in the end I chose a school that didn't offer it as a major. Somehow it still found me in the end.

I'm Good At:

  • UI/UX product design
  • Branding and visual identity
  • Front-end web development
  • Website design
  • HTML5 & CSS3
  • Print & graphic design
  • Bullet lists
